Burren Art College

Burren College of Art, where the Art comes from.Burren College of Art is committed to the initial education of artists, and to their continuing professional development.

The College aims to be the greatest little art school in the world, and a forum of international signifiance for the debate and development of fine art.

Set in the grounds of a 16th century castle against the stunning backdrop of the Burren in County Clare on Ireland's Atlantic coast, the Burren College of Art opened in 1994 after years of planning and research on an international scale. It represents a new and exciting departure in Fine Arts education.

In global terms, its location alone is unsurpassed in terms of historical, archaeological, geological, cultural and botanical interest. In addition, the study programmes it provides have been designed to allow artists to work in an international emerging and established environment.

Founded in 1993, and opened in 1994 the Burren College of Art offers the student artist the opportunity to develop creative potential in the unique environment of the Burren with the critical assistance of international faculty.

To facilitate individual development, enrolment is limited to 40 students.

Each student is provided with a personal studio space.

The high standards maintained by the College, both in its facilities and its excellent resident and visiting faculty, ensure that students gain as much as possible from their time here.
